Maize South soccer defeated Goddard 8-0 at Goddard on Thursday.

The Mavericks have scored 21 goals in their last two games.

Sophomore Landon Eskridge said that team unity has been essential to reaching the Maverick’s 8-2 record this season. Eskridge scored two goals in the game.

“We moved and possessed the ball very well,” Eskridge said. “But we couldn’t finish very many of the chances we earned.”

Early in the first half, sophomore Raul Gerhardus scored the first goal for Maize South.

Senior Bryce Bowman, Andrew Bliss and sophomore Brayden Parker are among the others who also scored points for the Mavericks.

Eskridge said his team will continue to succeed by making sure they give as much effort as possible towards improvement. He also believes keeping up their team chemistry will motivate them towards their goal of competing at state.

Maize South soccer will be back in action on Tuesday at Valley Center.
