Multiple students suspended after K-9 unit searches
August 29, 2018
Multiple students were suspended Wednesday following the K-9 unit searches in the parking lot.
It is not known how many students were suspended or the circumstances that caused the suspensions.
Officer Jamey Dover said that the K-9 unit was hired by the school district for a randomized vehicle search.
Dover said he deals only with criminal discipline, while the school handles violations of district policy.
“I’m there pretty much as a law enforcement representative in case something illegal is located and found, and it rises to my level,” Dover said. “I will say that nothing rose to my level.”

My child would have been better served with a class on their 4th amendment rights. This is a perfect example of why we have it. My child is no safer because of this raid and it only served to deny multiple students their education. It was a waste of money and resources. First their law enforcement teacher is fired for sexual misconduct with a student and now this. Not too confident in Maize High administrators and local law enforcement right now.
