Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership program searching for sophomores

The Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership program  is searching for a sophomore to represent Maize High.

Any sophomores interested in being a candidate for representation can put their name on the list in counselor Lori Brown’s office through Oct. 18. For more information students can visit counselor Geri Hickerson’s office.

The HOBY program runs during the summer of 2014 in Manhattan, Kansas. The nominated student will pay a $150 fee for miscellaneous fees on the trip.

“[The nomination would] open up opportunities for the student in any other area of leadership,” Hickerson said.

Students interested in joining should have good leadership skills, an outgoing personality and the ability to motivate others.

“I’ve received letters from the kids every year about how wonderful it is,” Hickerson said.
