The soccer team had two home games this week. They played Salina Central on Tuesday and Goddard on Thursday. The team fell to Salina Central 2-1 and took the win against Goddard 7-0.

At the game on Tuesday, junior Nick Reiswig scored in the first half. Maize kept Salina Central trailing until the last ten minutes of the game, when Salina Central scored both of their goals.

At the game on Thursday, in the first half, senior Gavin Caler scored two points, and senior Will Thompson scored one. Maize led 3-0 at the half . During the second half, Caler scored another two points, Thompson one point, and junior Logan Voran one point. The final score was 7-0.

“We were communicating with each other as well as connecting passes that we had trouble doing past games,” senior Gavin Caler said. “Everyone was playing as hard as they could. That heart and drive allowed us to come together as a team and get the win.”

The Eagles battle Hutch on Tuesday at 4:30 in Hutch.
