2015-2016 yearbook given All American Yearbook Award
February 7, 2017
The Maize High 2015-16 yearbook was awarded the All American Yearbook Award.
Out of the five categories the National Scholastic Press Association judges, yearbook direction Anne Debes and the yearbook staff were awarded exemplary marks in four of them.
“The categories you’re rated in are essentials, coverage; how well we covered a variety of things from our school and a variety of people, writing and editing, design, and photography,” Debes said.
The only group the yearbook failed to get an exemplary rating in was writing and editing, in which they were just five points short.
Submitted yearbooks are judged against a standard, so it’s possible for multiple yearbooks to be given the best rating of All American. To be classified as an All American yearbook, it must score above 400 points and about 90 points in four of the five aforementioned categories. Last year’s yearbook scored 473 points out of 500 possible.
