    Maize falls to Hutchinson

The Eagles take a defeat against Hutchinson Oct. 3.

Hutchinson handed Maize their second loss of the season Friday night 40-37 in overtime.

The Eagles scored on a four yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Connor Lungwitz to senior wide receiver Kendall Stewart with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter to help come back from a 14 point deficit and send the game into overtime.

In overtime, the Eagles got the first possession and made a field goal to take a 3 point lead.

However that was not enough as Hutchinson’s quarterback ran the ball into the endzone finishing the Eagles off.

“Overall I think we played pretty well,” coach Gary Guzman said. “We just have to be consistent on what we do on offense, defense and special teams. Special teams can win games for you and lose games for you and it costed us on Friday.”

The Eagles next game will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Newton.
