Join clubs and try out for things. It’s the most said line in the history of the world, but high school really can be the best four years of your life. Maize High is a great school with one of the best principals in the country. I promise that you will be right where I am before you know it, and you don’t want to regret missing out on anything. Lauren Dunbar Participating in school-wide activities can make high school more enjoyable, but you should also make more time for your friends and get to know everyone you go to school with. Alexa Durano Participate in marching band, pep band, concert band or anything that is at least partially related to band. Alec Edmisten Take classes for college credit. Go to school dances, even if they seem kind of lame, you’ll have a good time. Vanessa Gonzales Academically, underclassmen should not miss out on building a great relationship with their counselors and teachers. Outside of class, I wholeheartedly recommend attending a few home basketball games–it’s a rush! Shelby Goss Get involved in activities and clubs. Jordan Grant Get involved in more school activities, I regret not going many activities. Molly Green Don’t miss out on being in the student section of basketball and football games. Believe me, you will regret it later on in life! Haylee Hanna Participate in Prom and football games. Gabby Harding Join clubs and play sports. Bailey Harris-Kruger Football games are so fun in the student section! Join clubs, be involved and have fun. These four years are the years to enjoy and make friends. Hayes, Catherine Spending time with friends and doing things you like. What I mean by doing things you like is band, art or orchestra. Colton Helm Don’t miss sporting events and prom. Kayln Helm Underclassmen should get involved with the school and go to athletic events to support their classmates! Rachel Henderson Don’t miss prom. Elizabeth Herrington Be in the student section. Yell and chant amongst all of your classmates during a football or basketball game, it is so much fun. The times when we have stormed the field or court are memories I will never forget. Rachel Klausmeyer Underclassmen need to get involved! Go to sporting events, join a team or start a club. Make high school fun! Maddy Koehn Homecoming week! It is what you make it, so don’t be too cool. StuCo plans a ton of great events. My personal favorite was probably Powderpuff football. Craig Lehman Underclassmen shouldn’t miss out on the art classes that are offered, especially if you get Mrs. Jannsen for a teacher. Camilla Lindblad Join a sport or go to the home games, especially the basketball and football games. Alexis Loudermilk One of the best experiences in high school is getting loud and cheering in the student section for our basketball teams. This year was especially exciting as our boys and girls went so far. I encourage all underclassmen to stay involved in clubs, organizations and extracurricular activities. Don’t just sit back and do nothing. Put yourself out there. By staying involved, I developed friendships, grew as a person, in leadership skills and enjoyed my high school years to the max. Ray Luc Clubs help to make the best memories. Whitney Lucas Being a part of Friendship Club is something that I think everyone should be a part of, not just underclassmen. Megan MacGill Join clubs or join a sport. Do things out of your comfort zone. Paige Mans Underclassmen definitely shouldn’t miss out on traveling internationally through the school. The spring break trip to France was the most incredible thing I have been a part of. I learned so much about myself and the other travelers. We all became so much more independent and culturally aware. Traveling was a real eye opener to all the possibilities I have in life. Kole McCorkendale Do what makes you the most happy. Mason McCreath Spending time with friends is the best thing in high school. Kara McDaniel They should not miss the experience of getting their diploma after at least twelve years of schooling. Kendra Midcap Just have fun and enjoy your high school experience. Taylor Miller FFA, AP Classes and clubs, just don’t get overwhelmed or you’ll get sick. Ghazal Moghaddami Underclassmen shouldn’t miss school activities such as sports. Luke Mohr I would urge underclassmen to not be afraid to be bold. It can be daunting to put yourself out there, but I promise you won’t be disappointed by putting effort into making high school special. Cameron Moilina Make a lot of friends and explore all academic and extracurricular activities. Gage Morgan Play sports and get into a little trouble. Rebecca Morse Get involved in any activities you can like clubs or organizations. Jessica Neisis Prom/After Prom so you can have fun with friends shouldn’t be missed. Take Marching Band for the teamwork. Spend time with all four different classes for a more perspectives. Kaylor Nelson Be involved with the basketball team and also be involved in prom. Todd Nelson No Maize graduate should miss prom, a basketball game, any of the musical performances or an opportunity to be in one of the plays. Ben Nguyen Underclassmen should play sports. Kelsey Nickell Go to football games, dances, plays and musicals. If you don’t go to them now, you’ll miss out! Why would there be sports teams, drama kids and choir kids without someone to go see them put their hard work on show for everyone. They may seem lame to you, but they are fun! Olivia Baalman Get involved. High school is a blast if you put yourself out there and participate in a variety of clubs and activities. Attending athletic events is a great way to support your peers and is lots of fun! Jake Omo Get out and have fun, life isn’t all about school. Danny Owen Cool fun. Ariana Perez Get into activities and form strong groups of friends. Kayley Perkins Join clubs and be involved. I know that life can give you a hectic schedule, but be an active member of your school! Tiffany Pham Don’t worry too much, it’ll ruin your high school experience with unnecessary stress. Enjoy the small and simple things about it in the moment because it’s not going to get any easier. Don’t be always so serious either, that’s usually a mood killer. Brandi Phillips I think they should definitely be involved with school as much as their daily schedules allow. It’s a great way to make new friends and meet new people. Teddy Pranion They should try to take advantage of the opportunities that the school gives and to not try to just take classes for the credit. Chelsey Ratzlaff Sit in the student section. Reali, Nathaniel After Prom was way more fun than Prom. Daniel Reep Do not miss out on all the sporting events, the atmosphere is great. Aaron Shaw Get involved in as much as possible, whether it be a sport or club. Being involved is the chill thing to do. Michael Sheets Make lasting friendships. Tanner Shirk Sports events and prom shouldn’t be missed. Linnea Smidderks Clubs! I didn’t join any clubs my freshman year because I was new and didn’t know anyone. I joined some my sophomore year and made a lot of new friends. Haley Smith Take classes that make you happy and don’t make high school a drag. Don’t fill it with difficult classes, take at least one class a semester that you are looking forward to have during the day. Matthew Smith Make sure your yearbook photo is a good one because it will stick with you forever! Austin Snell Join choir! As an underclassman, I was incredibly shy and one of the most introverted people you would ever meet. I came to Maize High with few friends and low self-value and confidence. When I joined choir as a freshman, I was extremely nervous. I was a horrible dancer and definitely not the best singer. As my time in choir progressed, I gained so many friends! The upperclassmen were my biggest role models and I gained so much support from them. My love for music exploded. And best of all, I created memories that will be with me for the rest of my life with my choir family. Also, don’t stick to just one type of elective. My example is that I love choir deeply, but I stretched myself out to more opportunities and found that I also have a love for using computer programs to create project or design houses. Dalton Sorell Don’t miss Super’s classes. Lindsey Spencer Be in the student section! Alec Stephens Sports and other opportunities are great ways to get involved. Tyler Stratton Just everything in general! Attending prom, student activities, games, and just take all of it in. My high school year is almost over and I regret not supporting some of my best friends in the sports that play for the school. Blair Summers Underclassmen shouldn’t miss Friday night football games. Kris Super Clubs and activities should not be missed. Jennifer Terrell Sports games are so fun like Prom and friends. Don’t take full days senior year. Megan Theodore They can make new friends and have a good time at school and that it isn’t boring. Alex Tran The clubs. Join clubs makes friends and memories. Taylor Utter Find a club or activity that you enjoy. Lauren Villarreal Anything Mr. Super teaches. Even if it’s not on your career path, all of his classes are really interesting and he makes learning fun. Also try out Yearbook if you’re into writing or photography. It’s a great way to get to know everyone in the school and we also eat a ton of food, whether it’s for something to much on while working or for a party day after completing a deadline. Hannah Wagner Stand up for yourself, whether it’s a teacher, fellow classmate or coach. If someone makes you feel like anything less than awesome, talk to them. High school is so short in the grand scheme of things, but you’re supposed to be having fun! Do what makes you happy. Samantha Watson They should go to Homecoming and football games, dances, Prom and the pep assemblies. Emma Watt Participate in every school activity you can. It may seem like a waste of time at first, but trust me you will end up enjoying it. The most rewarding for me was joining the Big Brothers Big Sisters club which cooperates with Maize Central Elementary. The emotional reward you will receive from this club is priceless. Anna Weaver Spending Friday nights in the stands. It may seem overrated now, but those down-to-the-wire games and cheering alongside your friends will be the ones you remember. Freshman year counts. Take as many different classes that you can and find your niche. You might even end up finding your best friend in an art 1 class. Spencer Weaver Take college classes and earn college credit. Suzanne Webb Get involved and go to school events. Kenzie Wedman Be a part of at least one sports team at Maize! Ezekiel Welch Don’t miss sports. Clay Wells They should go to the parties. Cora Witten Don’t miss out on having friends or having a good time in school. Madeline Wofford Get involved and join as many clubs and activities as possible! High school goes by so fast and getting involved will help you make so many memories to remember for the rest of your life. Megan Wofford Underclassmen should realize that the four years you have in high school go by faster than you think and the best memories come from when you participate in as many clubs or sports as you can. Jacob Worm Don’t miss extra-curricular activities. Amelia Wynn Don’t miss out on the teacher-student relationship. Once you go to college, there are so many students and it’s hard to get one-on-one help. Dustin Yoder Get involved with the school’s productions of plays, musicals, and concerts, whether you help with set construction, lights, or simply go and watch them.
