The Maize High cross country team traveled to Lake Afton on Thursday, Sept. 26, where they raced around the lake and into the woods. The challenging course featured steep hills and rough terrain.
Despite the heat, the team performed well, finishing in seventh place. Senior Kaylen Blanpied placed 18th in the girls’ varsity race, while sophomore Micah Sharp secured 23rd in the boys’ varsity division.
This Saturday, the rest of the team will compete at Rim Rock in Lawrence, facing teams from across Kansas.
