Girls basketball win game in overtime

The girls basketball team won a thriller against Salina Central Tuesday night in overtime 51-49. Freshman Brianna Johnson took a shot at the last seconds of overtime which gave Eagles the win. Junior Keiryn Swenson led the team with 20 points.

“The game was tough, I knew it was going to be tough,” head coach Jerrod Handy said. “Our girls battled hard even though they had a tough game the night before.”

With this win and a win on Friday the girls could get a share of the league title which is a confidence boost for the team.

“Just winning a big game like that after we’ve lost four of them that way,” Handy said. “Now we finally win one and that’s going to give us a confidence boost.”

The girls next game will be at 6 p.m. tomorrow at Newton.
