Maize soccer kicked off its season with a 12-0 win against Wichita South on Tuesday.

Junior Zack Pappan is looking forward to playing Maize South in their last scheduled home game.

“It is always good competition and has a great atmosphere,” Pappan said.

Junior Preston Gietzen has been playing soccer at Maize for three years and is excited for the new players to strengthen the team.

“We have a lot of good returning players and plenty of new faces that will bolster the team,” Gietzen said.

Pappan said what he admires most about the team is the players dedication.

The hard work and dedication the boys have on and off the field, not just during the season but in the offseason as well,” he said.

Gietzen is looking forward to playing with his team again this year.

“Just getting to play soccer with the boys again,” Gietzen said. “Just trying to repeat what we did last year.”

Pappan and Gietzen´s goals are simple this year, “score” and “win”.
