Students beat staff in dodgeball tournament

DodgeballWhat student doesn’t love seeing a teacher lose in a championship game?
That’s exactly what students saw Wed. night at the homecoming inaugural dodgeball tournament. Students signed up by forming a team and paying $2 to help StuCo fund activities.
Senior team, Under the Mistletoe, took home the trophy by beating the faculty team in the championship game. Kavan Jobe said a big part of winning the game was due to having varsity baseball players such as Jacob Miller, Kolby Kern, and Kohl Glatczak. The losing junior team, The Prospects, blamed their loss on Victor Mercado.
“Mr. Mercado cheated,” junior Connor Lungwitz said. “He hid balls behind his back and gut, and ran up and got us out.”
Mercado had a different perspective of the accusation.
“I did not cheat!” he said. “I did not hide balls behind my back, I just have a very lumpy looking body.”
Mercado also said that the tournament took a toll on his body.
“It’s because I am old. My knee hurts, my shoulder hurts and my body hurts, so everything hurts.”
Altogether the tournament was a great end to homecoming week.Dodgeball
