Girls basketball is having a very successful season this year, sitting at a current 9-1 record. The girls have only lost to Derby, and will take on Newton tonight.

“I think we’re definitely on track,” junior Kyla Frenchers said. “With only one loss, we’re feeling good going on through the rest of the regular season and can’t wait for substrate and eventually state!”

The team has been able to work together and bring out the strengths in one another to continue their successful season.

“Our team’s biggest strength is definitely the chemistry we have between us and our shooting abilities,” senior Baylee Miller said.

With a 7-0 away game record, the team is confident in their ability to win on the road. But with the Newton game at home, Frenchers goal is to be able to turn up the team’s intensity to secure a win.

“As a team we just need to turn up our intensity right out of the gate,” Frenchers said. “Sometimes we can start a little laid back. As an individual I think it’s the same for me. Just looking to score more in the beginning of the game to really set the tone of the rest of the game.”

The team will take on Newton tonight at home. This will be their fourth home game of the season.
