Five safe holiday activities

This holiday season, families may be searching to find fun and safe holiday activities. Here are five things to do this winter. 

1. Botanica Illuminations is located at 701 Amidon St. and has over two million lights throughout their gardens. They are open from Nov. 14 through Jan. 30, 2021 and are closed Nov. 25-26 as well as Dec. 24-25. As in years past, walk through the gardens and experience live music, candy cane lane and much more. Check out the new drive thru located at the main entrance, Santa’s village and a large tree with over 15,000 lights. Masks are required while walking through the gardens and tickets must be bought online in advance.

2. Experience an Old Fashioned Christmas at Prairie Pines Christmas Tree Farm located at 4055 N. Tyler Rd. The farm is open from Nov. 27 through mid-December. At the farm you can pick a Christmas tree, see Santa, ride on a horse-drawn hay rack ride and more. Masks are required for anyone over the age of five.

3. Skate with Santa Saturdays at Chicken N Pickle. Come out to 1240 N Greenwich Rd. on Dec. 5, 12 and 19 to skate with Santa from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Masks are required.

4. Stop by Bradley Fair on Sunday from 1-7 p.m. for a Holiday Stroll at 2000 N Rock Rd. Dates include Nov. 22 and 29 and Dec. 6, 13 and 20. Participate in horse-drawn carriage rides, live entertainment, cookie decorating and more. Masks are required.

5. Winter Holiday Laser Adventure at Exploration Place’s Dome Theater located at 300 N McLean Blvd. Experience and watch laser showings of songs like “Let it Snow” and others. Tickets must be purchased at Exploration Place, tax not included. Masks are required.
