Maize defeated Salina South 58-13 Friday night improving to 4-0. The Eagles were on top for the entirety of the game. This was the highest scoring game for the team so far, scoring the majority of the points in the first half.

“I think the offense as a whole did their job,” senior wide receiver Jacob Hanna said. “Ending up with 58 points at the end of the game speaks to the level of focus and attention to detail we have during the week at practice.”

Sophomore quarterback Avery Johnson scored a touchdown in the second quarter, raising the Eagles 49-13.

“It was awesome,” Johnson said. “It wouldn’t have been possible without my guys up front, but that feeling you get when the crowd erupts behind you is indescribable.”

Senior defensive end Jaxson Guillroy blocked a punt and returned for a touchdown in the second quarter.
