Seniors Sophia Buzard and McKensy Glass took the next step in their softball careers by signing to Kansas colleges. Both girls have been playing at Maize and have been recruited by University of Kansas and Emporia State University.

“I’m going to Kansas University to play softball,” Buzard said. “I signed my national letter of intent on Nov. 13”

Sophia Buzard plays in the center for school softball and in competitive plays in left field.

“My favorite part about softball is my teammates,” Buzard said. :I get to travel all over and compete against some of the hardest teams.”

Buzard is excited to be out on the field with that competition at the D1 level.

“It’s the big 12, so it’s going to be really good,” Buzard said.

McKensy Glass has also verbally committed to Emporia State University.

“It’s my dream school,” Glass said. “It feels like home.”

Glass’s position is different from Buzard’s, she plays shortstop and is a utilized player. Glass said her favorite part of playing on the field is creating bonds that will last forever.

Both girls will be signing in the auxiliary gym on Dec. 4, during En-Cor.

“Hard work pays off, it’s nice to know my practice has been worth it,” Buzard said.
