In honor of Cancer Awareness Month in Feb, Maize will be selling shirts for fans to wear at the Eagle’s basketball game on Feb 12.

Shelby Hillman is the boys JV basketball coach and started this because of sophomore Hannah Soderstrom who has been battling cancer.

“She has just showed me that through her trail she perseveres through everything.”  Shelby said. “It made me realize how many people are affected by cancer, and so that was my motivation to represent all kinds of cancer.”

Anyone can order the shirts for the game and any money that get raised will go to the Cancer Foundation. There will will five different color shirts that you can buy, including pink, purple, orange, yellow and blue.

Shelby said that she will also be selling Eagles that people can buy and put names of people that have cancer that they are supporting.

Senior Devon Koehn said he that he is happy our school is doing this for a good cause.

“Its for a good cause so I think people will appreciate it, just see what’s on the shirt and think that it’s pretty cool that we are doing it,” Koehn said.
