Girls basketball defeats Campus

Last night, the lady Eagles took on the Campus Colts and won with a final score of 64-27. The team has only lost to Derby so far and they’re looking to keep it that way.

Senior Alexis Cauthon thought the team did well against the Colts and that they had a good run offensively.

“We played well as a team against campus,” Cauthon said. “We swung the ball well and were patient throughout our offenses. We also ran the floor very well.”

Senior Halie Jones said the intensity was pretty high throughout the whole game and that they could’ve shot more layups than they had but that the team had better luck compared to last week’s game.

“Our shooting was way better than last game,” Jones said.

Cauthon wasn’t expecting the game to be a difficult one but she knew she still had to give it her all.

“We knew going into the game that the game wasn’t going to be a very challenging one, so we set our minds to work on all our plays like offensives, defenses and in bounds. We wanted to keep working to get better.”

During this next week and over break the girls are going to continue working hard to reach their goals and win their upcoming games.

“Coach has always told us that, ‘how you practice is how you play,’ so in preparation for our next few games and during break, we are going to work so hard during each practice to get better,” Cauthon said. “We are also continuing to shoot lots of shots since we are such a strong shooting team.”
