Maize cross country races at Rim Rock Farm Classic

Zoie Ecord runs in the 5k race, placing 3rd.

The Maize and Maize South cross country teams raced at Rim Rock Farm Classic on September 22nd.

From Maize the top placers were Zoie Ecord placing 40th out of 230 in the girls 5k race. Kael Ecord placed 113th out of 292 in the boys 5k. Zoie and Kael are siblings.

“Zoie and I understand each other and what it takes.” Kael Ecord said. “We go to the same practices, we know what it takes to do this and we can talk about it at home with each other as well.”

The top placers from Maize South were Alexa Rios placing 18th out of 230 in the girls 5k race. Trey Rios placed 54th out of 292 in the boys 5k. Alexa and Trey are also siblings.

“We had 14 runners compete on Saturday, and almost all of them (but one) ran their fastest time of the season, or their fastest time ever on that course.  It is a course with rolling and steep hills  that we rarely see anywhere in this area,” said Maize cross country Coach Rankins. “yet they all competed exceptionally well.”
