Girls golf wins tournament at Emporia

The girls varsity golf team placed first in the tournament at Emporia Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday. The tournament was between 12 schools including Maize, Andover Central, Andale, Andover, Augusta, Buhler, Circle, Eisenhower, Eureka, Goddard, Valley Center and Wellington.

The tournament was a 9-hole shotgun tournament.

Six girls participated in the tournament: seniors Amber Donker, Tessa Kilian and Hannah Scheuermann, junior Riley Hunter and freshman Lexie Ridder. All of girls who attended the tournament placed within the top ten.

“It was a lot of fun. We worked really hard to get here, so I think we are ready to kick the season off good,” Senior Amber Donker said.

The next tournament will be Next Thursday at Derby Golf and Country Club.
