Councilors get rid of Core-EnCor and replace it with Eagle Rising.

Core-EnCor is being replaced with Rising Eagle groups. These small groups will have a small amount of students talking to their counselors about school.

“These small groups are an opportunity for us as counselors to get to meet with anywhere from six to ten kids at a time instead of trying to touch base one on one,” counselor Betsy Manning said, “So it’s a lot more time efficient for the counselors, and in our groups … we check in on how you’re doing with your classes, and we’re going to check on attendance.”

Students who are in one of the Rising Eagle groups will meet once a week during EnCor.

Manning said she believes it will have more positive results.

“It’s more of a positive reinforcement approach rather than, if your grades aren’t good, you have to go somewhere,” Manning said, “I’m hoping students will see this as ‘I get to go to Rising Eagles’ instead of ‘I have to go to Core-EnCor.’”
