Boys fly, girls fall against Newton

February 3, 2016

Both the boys and girls basketball teams were in action Tuesday night against Newton at home. The boys out muscled Newton in route to a 61-41 victory. The girls struggled to produce points as they lost 48-50.

After losing 5-6 games in late January, the boys needed a boost to get their season back on track following the 7-0 start. They returned to form on Tuesday night, finding the strong defense that seemed to be missing from recent games. Senior Jacob Schultz and sophomore Dalyn Johnson both led the the Eagles with 13 points each. The Eagles remain undefeated in AVCTL play.

The girls battled, but ultimately fell short again at home against Newton. Junior Taylor Holmes led the team with 16 points.

The boys and girls will take the floor again on Friday at Hutchinson.
