Late push not enough, Maize girls fall against Lawrence in Topeka

The Maize girls late rally fell short against Lawrence  in the first round as they lost 60-56 in Topeka on Thursday night.

The Eagles produced 22 points in the 4th quarter during a furious comeback, but they ultimately ran out of time in the game. Trailing by 12 points at halftime, the girls fought back in the second half. Senior HaLee Roland lead the Eagles with 16 points in the game followed by junior Brecken Roe with 10 points. The loss drops Maize to 8-3 on the season, and they still sit 3rd in the AV-CTL I standings.

Maize will face off against Topeka in the second round of the tournament on Friday at 7 p.m.
