Many students had an abrupt awakening from their sleep around 1:42 a.m. Thursday morning from a 4.7 magnitude Earthquake. The earthquake was centered around Cherokee, OK almost 100 miles southwest of Wichita, KS.

“I honestly thought I was being possessed because i was pinned down on my bed by my dog and my bed was shaking. It was so scary,” freshman Crosby Woods said. “It made my bed move, like my mattress moved off my box spring. My doors were rattling too and my dog was barking. It just scared me a lot.”

Woods was not the only one to be startled by the quake.

“I freaked out. I thought there was a ghost shaking my bed,” freshman Kalea King said. “I woke up and my mirror fell and some lotion fell off my table too and  it freaked me out. All I thought was like ‘oh my God it’s a ghost.’ I texted my boyfriend and then I yelled ‘dad’ because I had no idea what was going on.”
