Dairy Queen is coming to Maize on the corner of on 37th and Maize road. It will be located across the street from Menards and in front of Wichita State University West.

Jeff and Jana Pinney, the owners of the new Dairy Queen, started in Hays, but they have been working on getting another DQ put up in a different location. The couple was planning on building in Goddard, but it was easier to obtain the Maize spot.

“International DQ chose this spot,” Jana said. “It is a good spot for a new store.”

The construction of the Dairy Queen has been going on for a few months now and is planned to open to the public on Oct. 21..

“Everything went very smoothly” said Pinney. “ We had a lot of good community support.”

The restaurant will have the regular DQ Grill and Chill Menu and will seat about 72 customers.
