We couldn’t get all the nice things seniors had to say about teachers, so here are the rest.

Reid Abbott Mr. Botts, he has given me more second chances than I ever deserved. We have formed a friendship that I intend on keeping until I’m six feet under!
Caitlin Allan Mr. Frye because you can tell he genuinely cares about each of his students.
Ashley Arnold Mrs. Borrego is, without a doubt, my favorite teacher. A few months after graduating at semester I went back to Maize High after school got out and had a really long conversation with her about everything that had happened in my life, even things that a teenager probably shouldn’t tell an adult! Not only has she been a great role model to me, but having her for 2 years as an English teacher is the reason I love English and grammar so much today.
Taylor Axtell Good ol’ Stanley (aka Bergkamp)…I had him for both physics and chemistry, and he’s just a superb teacher to be honest. (Plus you get to whack him with a sledgehammer and shoot ping pong balls at him…what’s not to like??)
Saige Baalman Mrs. Shurts because she read a Dr. Seuss book on the last day of her class
Devon Baker All of them, they helped me learn.
Ryan Baker Mrs. Nitcher she taught me everything I know about French

Max Berg Mr. Rankins because he is a good coach and teacher
Kalee Betzen Cristy Kerbs was an amazing teacher and has helped shape me into the young lady that I am today
Danielle Bever Mrs. Elder because she is always positive and has a good attitude every day.

Kylee Boyd Mr. Frye because he was funny and cool, but still was strict and made us work
Rachel Brand Either Prater, Barbara, or Borrego. Each one of these teachers has given me valuable things: guidance, respect for authority, team cooperation, love for the arts, appreciation for beauty, and the importance of a strong work ethic. These are only some of the ones I can bring up on the spot. I could probably give even more glowing pieces of love for them if I elaborated further. All I can say to them is thank you.
Bailey Brown The teacher that has had the most impact on me in high school was Mrs. Prater. She has taught me that it was ok to strive for perfection, and if you really believed in something you needed to do everything in your power to achieve it.
Shania Burkhead Mrs. Barbara, because she’s really easy to talk to and she has really helped me grow in acting and as a person.
Shelby Carpenter I have attended Maize schools since I was a kindergartner, and out of all of the incredible educators I have had along the way, Dan Loving stands out in comparison. He has been not only an incredible teacher these past four years, but an even more incredible friend. Aside from teaching me how to be a better journalist, he also taught me how to be a better person. Whenever I needed something, he was there for me. Whenever I had a question, he had an answer. Someday, if I am even half the teacher he was, I will consider myself incredibly lucky.
Chancellor Carpenter Jay Super, his creative teaching style was inspirational
Brittani Casement Mr. Bergkamp because he made me realize how many things where invented after the Oreo, therefore we wouldn’t have cell phones if it wasn’t for Oreos.
Austin Engler Mr. Kirk because he has taught me musically and taught me life lessons as well
Gabe Chavez A teacher from my previous school. Her name was Mrs. Owens. She was my chemistry teacher and she was just genuinely nice
Chloe Cloud Outside opportunities. Enter in outside competitions. Don’t assume the teachers will give you outside things. These can make or break you.
Brett Combs Any and all of my AP/Honors teachers, just because they’re so supportive and they challenge you
Kayla Crockett Mrs. Sauer, she taught me so much about growing up. Mr. Burman has helped me in all situations, especially with my scheduling
Kevin Crouse Brian Kirk. We butt heads frequently but in the end, he’s opened my eyes up to music in a different way.
Arynn Dalal Mrs. Debes because she helped me grow as a person. She motivated me to reach new heights as a student.
Morgan Davis Mrs. Dalal. She is such a wonderful teacher who always puts her students first.
Huy Dinh In math, did a great job

Amelia Doyle Rather Mrs. Debes or Mrs. McKaig because there were always there for me when I need help to just some to talk to when I had bad days
Daniel Edkin I would probably say Mr. McCanlies because he is very nice and understanding.
Hannah Edwards Mrs. Elder or Mr. Mercado – Mrs. Elder because she is always so kind and willing to help you when you need it. Mr. Mercado because he’s always there to talk about anything and everything.
Alexa Eisenbart Coach Lungwitz, after having him most on my high school career I have learned that no matter how hard something is giving 110% every day will get you a long way.
Roxanna El Sayed Mrs. mans because she teaches well while giving you freedom
Cheyenne Esser Kevin Frye. All of my teachers have given me so much insight on life, but Mr. Frye gave be the chance to let me be myself.
Abbey Evans Mrs. Barbara – has taught me to pursue my dreams and goals even if I might fail the first few times. Through her I believed I can act and got id of my stage fright.
Grant Evans Mrs. Hammet Help me on what to do after high school
Jared Farber Mrs. Cox, She’s so loving and inviting! She genuinely cares about the students!
Megan Fischer Mrs. Prater has definitely had the biggest impact on my life. She’s taught us much more than music. She’s given us life skills and truly cared for us like we’re family.
Ty Fitzmier Either Mr. Bernard or Mr. Kern because Mr. Bernard taught German and Mr. Kern taught metals and they are both classes I loved
Eric Flett Mr. Bergkamp- never has such a hard subject such as AP physics or AP chemistry been explained so easily and so well understood. He is a master of helping other comprehend the incomprehensible
Susan Forgie David Walker. I have never had him as a “teacher” in the classroom, but he has taught me life lessons through bowling that I will use every day. We learned that you are your biggest competitor, and you are capable of doing anything you set your mind too. Oh, and to pick up your single pins…
Susan Forgie Mr. Walker! He’s my bowling coach and acted more like that cool uncle I’ve always wanted. He is probably the only person that puts up with my crap as well as everyone else’s that still treats us like we are family. He pushes us so hard during practice because he knows what we can do and it makes us a better person every time.
Carlos Garcia Kristy Custer because she pushed
Dani Gerety The teacher that has had the most positive influence on me has been Robbye Herrington, the AP Biology teacher. Herrington teaches at Maize South, but she is the most optimistic, caring teacher I have had the pleasure of being a student for. Herrington makes learning fun, and she recognizes the effort her students put in to her class.

Emily Graves For me, Mrs. Prater has had a huge influence in my life. She’s literally brought all the choir kids in and made us feel like a part of her family. She cares about us all so much and I know that if I needed advice about something, she’d try her best to help me out. I know that I will be able to come back any time after I graduate and it’d be like I never left. It’s been so awesome get to see her as not only a teacher, but also as a mom. It’s impossible not to look up to her when you’re around her as much as we are but, at the same time, she makes everything feel so comfortable and at home.
Meghan Grimes Mrs. Borrego because she loves what she does and you can tell that she cares about her students.
Daley Handy Mrs. Shurts, because I just love the way she interacts with her students to make everyone feel like she’s on their side. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed inside and outside the classroom.
Ellie Hardesty Mr. Bergkamp, Ms. Nitcher, or Mrs. Prater have all inspired me to push beyond my limits and to be the best I can be
Nicholas Harris Madame Nitcher, she is absolutely fantastic. She makes learning desirable, but she pushes you to be better (not just in school, in life).
Hannah Henricks Dan Loving because he is not only a teacher but a friend. He truly cares about you and what is going on in your life.
Liz Henry Mrs. Cox, she always pushes me to do better, and has been such a wonderful teacher.
Clayton Hicks Mr. Walker and Mr. Rankins, they have both mentored me a lot, and they always give great advice.
Adrianna Hodges I have had several amazing teachers throughout my highschool career. Though teachers can be hard on us sometimes, they truly want their students to succeed and grow in their learning. Our student body is so fortunate to have so many fantastic teachers.

Kelsey Howell Mrs. Graber because she has been my EnCor teacher for 4 years and I have been a TA for her for 2 years. We have become very close, I will miss her dearly.

Riley Jay Ms. Nitcher because I have never had a teacher who made learning a new subject and coming to class every day so enjoyable. I appreciate her honesty and sarcasm-maybe because I was always on the good end of the stick.
Sammir Jibril Bergkamp because he made me think
Brooke Johanson Dan Loving. Dan has been there for me ever since freshman year. Whenever I’m in a bad mood, Dan knows before anyone else. He’ll always make sure a student is okay and gives the best advice possible. In Newsmag he had encouraged me to go into photography and become the photo/design editor of the newspaper. I greatly appreciate him for encouraging me to do that. He and I don’t always get along but we’re BFFs at heart. Dan is the man.
Alex Johnson Mr. Rankins, he encouraged and strengthened my love for history.
Dylan Jones I loved every teacher I had at Maize, but if I had to narrow it down to a top 5 faves, I would say Bergkamp, Borrego, Frye, Shurts, and Meirowsky in no specific order. And that has to because of their teaching style and how they make their classrooms such fun and enjoyable environments.
Chris Jones Mrs. Borrego and Mrs. Fisher because they helped me through tough subjects.
Makenna Jones Coach Lungwitz because he always made me push myself in weights class to become a better athlete.
Ash Kamran Mrs.Graber. She loves to help others.
Dustin Kanae Mrs. Meirowsky. She’s just awesome.
Jonathan Karstensen Mrs. Nitcher. I’ve met the majority of my best friends in class and I got to go to France.

Steven Koury Rankins, he has tons of knowledge.
Courtney Lange Jodee Johnson & Beth Janssen because they have helped me improve in my artistic career and have led me to scholastics Art and Writing Nationals.
Sarah Larkin Mr. Watkins, he has always been their when I needed something. He has inspired me to not care at all what people think about me and always supported my goals.
Mattew LeBegue Mr. Nitcher because she is so king and patient.
Tony Lee Mrs. A Hammet because she helped me explore the stuff I want to do with computers and computer games
Alex Lee Coach Lungwitz because he always pushes me to work and is always helpful in lifting.
David Leung MacAnulty because I joined BPA due to her which turned out to be a good experience.
Connor Lungwitz My dad, I’ve had his class for 4 years and he’s always pushed me to my limits
Cooper Manuel Mrs. Prater, simply because she has grown my sense of musical ability.
Jory Martinez Rhoulhac, that’s my dawg.
Brenton Mauldin I would go between Rankins and Frye because they both got my butt back into shape when I started to get lazy with my work but they also taught me the most in their classes.
Braden McCall John Rader, because he made me want to go into the medical field.
Kendal McGuire Ms. Nitcher because she made me feel so comfortable around everyone in class. She made me feel like I know everyone on the first week of class.
Katie McLachlan Dan Loving. Mr. Loving has inspired me to keep on going when things get tough and to always do my best. He has always believed in me and supported me in everything that I do.
Maite Menendez Dylan McCandlies because he taught me how to appreciate art and to watch my attitude. He’s a cool ca with a great sense of humor, which I respect
Michelle Methe I’ve had many teachers who have had a positive profound impact on you but one of the ones I would have to say would be Mrs. Debes. She was so helpful when I had her for English 10 and I struggled in English. She was probably one of the best teachers I’ve had in high school.
Micala Milliner Mrs. Dalal. She’s my favorite teacher I have ever had cause she super nice and helpful
Crosbie Moody Mrs. Prater. She always sees your full potential even when you don’t. She always pushes us students to be better than just “good” along with the way teaching us life skills such as time management, patience, and self-discipline.
Aaren Morrell Kirk- funny, but teaches life lessons that you may not expect from your band director
Austin Morrow Anderson because he knows me well and pushed me when I needed it.
Sarah Nash Jodee Johnson. When I had cancer sophomore year, I was in the midst of taking one of her painting classes and painted in my own home so that I could finish one of our fun projects.

Jordan Nichols Multiple teachers-if I had to pick I would feel like I was betraying their honor. Frye, Burgkamp, Rankins, Newby.

Katie Ortstadt There are so many amazing teachers at MHS, and I cannot pick just one! The teachers here really care about their students and aren’t afraid to help you with whatever you need.
Ashley Owen Mr. Walker, he is a teacher that cares even If you don’t. He inspired me for my love of reading and learning. He motivated me to be my best.
Connor Palmer Mr. Frye, he likes the good music.
Colton Parks Mr. Rankins, he questions morality and teaches how to think, not just information.

Riley Patton Sra. Elder was very hard on her students because she wanted us to succeed.
Kyley Peirce Mrs. Cox, has been my second mom since sophomore year. She is like my rock, always strong and sturdy, always pushing me to do my best in everything I do. Mrs. Cox, is such a strong and inspiring person she always knows what to say.
Duncan Pepper Mrs. Poole, helped me figure out my inspiration towards cooking
Morgan Pfeifer Mrs. Hogan has had the most positive impact on me. She is such an inspirational person with a kind heart. I loved every minute being a teacher’s assist for her classroom and I’m very thankful for that opportunity.
Grant Pfeifer Mrs. Nitcher, she tool us on a trip to France, and that in itself was a life changing experience
Samantha Price Mrs. Houseman, she was very encouraging every day, and always helped me in Chem I.
Peyton Quandt Mr. Roulhac, even though I just now have him as a teacher, he really understands us highschoolers and really connects with us.

Nazih Raychouni Mrs. Debes, she helped me in everything I faced during class time or outside the school.
Mariah Rey Mr. Frye because he challenged and prepared me for college. And Mrs. McKaig for always challenging me to do my best.
Grant Risinger Mrs. Prater has given me the opportunity to be on stage quickly every year of high school to develop my confidence.
Devin Roberts Mrs. Synder because she’ll prepare you for the real world.
April Romaine Mr. Frye was pretty cool and so was Mr. Rankins.
Taylor Romirez Mrs. Snyder, she has been my EnCor and business teacher for three years and I always took an interest in me and what I do outside of school.
Tyler Roul All of the art teachers mainly because I love art.
Abby Schweikert Mr. Albin, because he just rocks! That is the simplest way to put it.
Naussica Shinkle Ms. Nitcher because she is the absolute best, not only is she a great teacher she is a great friend as well and she makes life at Maize High brighter.

Madi Sites Mama D. Aka, Doris Prater. Not many teachers would open up their home on multiple weekends, just for a bunch of high school kids to get together, eat, bond, and even play the Choir Hunger Games in her nearby forest. Mrs. Prater is someone who cares more for her students than her own eating schedule, and that says a lot. Mrs. Prater has guided me throughout the years; she has revealed to me what real passion looks like, she has showed me how impactful music can be, and she has shown me real love. Thank you, Doris Prater. I will forever remember you as my second mom in high school. <3
Sarah Slack Mrs. Prater has had a tremendous impact on me all four years of high school. She goes above and beyond every single day to ensure that all of her students are prepared for life beyond high school–both musically and just in general. Her support of me has meant so much. I never would have dreamed that I would get the amazing opportunities that I’ve had in the MHS music program. She has given me a place to call home within MHS, and I am so grateful for that.
Haley Smalley Mrs. Nitcher Learning a language isn’t easy, but she’s so patient and understanding if you struggle with it. She’s kind and tries to make sure everyone gets the help they need. She’s also a lot of fun, too!
Jared Smith Helm, he has understood and helped train me to be who I am.
Lauren Stallard Ms. Nitcher, because our trip to France and her passion for the language has changed my life.
Ashlyn Steuber Mrs. Prater has made such an impact on not only me but everyone in the choir, she never gives up on us, and always tells us what we can do better vocally.
Keiryn Swensen Mrs. Bergkamp, because he is an amazing physics teacher that helped me understand how he work works through math. Also, his hatred of freshman made me laugh every day.

Jake Tatge Warren Rankins he has been there through every change in my life as a coach and teacher. I respect him a lot for all he has done.
Mia Taylor Mr. Bhurman, he has done everything possible for me and gave support in any situation. He was not just a counselor, but a friend. I’m really going to miss him.
Matt Taylor Mr. Fry because he’s truly cared that I learn from his class and has always been very supportive.

Zoe Wedman Teachers who have made an impact are Mr. Walker because no matter how my day is going he can always make me laugh and tell me I should be doing track instead of soccer. Mrs. McKaig for never giving up on me and always being the one I go to if I ever need anything she always gives me all the time I need but is also hard on me because she knows I have the potential.
Scott Wells Mrs. Clock, she helped push me past my limits of learning new information.
Tasha Wentling Mrs. Borrego. I can’t put into words how she has helped me and doesn’t even know it.
Elijah West Bergkamp and Frye they pushed me the hardest.
Tyler Westphal Coach Walker, he always makes me laugh.
Miranda White From the very beginning, Mr. Loving has been my encourager. Thank you so much for making me feel welcome at Maize.
Angelina Wiglesworth Mrs. Janssen. She puts up with the fact that almost all I draw is monsters and continues to encourage me to choose the path that’s right for myself.
Corey Wilson I have had Mrs. Borrego for two years of English. She was always very nice, very smart, and always made me laugh.
Nick Wynn Mr. Frye. He taught me that English is fun.
Noah Ybarra Mr. Frye cause he is a thoughtful guy.
Bethany Yoder Mr. Jacobson. He does not stand for people who disrespect.
